Will the Booze Flow at the Hotel Monaco?

[THIS POST, WHICH I WANT TO FILL A RETAIL OPENING SLOT, IS HALF FANTASY BASED ON AN OLD CITY CIVIC UPDATE FROM A FEW WEEKS AGO ABOUT HOW THE HOTEL APPLIED FOR A LIQUOR LICENSE. I DON’T KNOW WHETHER IT WENT THROUGH, BUT THE UWISHUNU POST LINKED TO BELOW MAKES IT SOUNDS LIKE IT HAS–WHO KNOWS, THOUGH. ALSO, IT’S KIND OF BORING SINCE WHY WOULDN’T A HOTEL GET A LIQUOR LICENSE? HOWEVER, THIS IS THE SORT OF PROPERTY THAT IT WOULD BE GREAT TO GET A TOUR OF IN ADVANCE IF ITS OPENING. WOULD WANT TO COVER BOTH BIG AND SMALL RETAIL OR WHATEVER OPENINGS, SINCE SUPER-LOCAL ONES–NOT JUST A BIG HOTEL–ARE IMPORTANT TO THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN THE AREAS]

The exciting transformation of the gorgeous, historic Lafayette Building in Old City to the Hotel Monaco, owned by Kimpton Hotels, has been ongoing for more than a year, and uwishunu has details about the various bars and lounges planned for the property, which will open next week, on October 4th. Just one question, though: according to the Old City Civic Association’s Liquor Committee Report from the beginning of September, the hotel’s liquor license was still under review. Will the champagne not flow freely in a week-and-a-half?
